Dear all,
We are excited to announce that we have organized an intensive 5 day Estill Voice Training System level 1 and 2 workshop in April 2009. The course will be given by Kerrie Obert and Steven Chicurel, two of the most highly experienced vanguard Estill trainers. Kerrie and Steven started working with Jo Estill at an early stage and are still involved in voice research today.
The level 1 and 2 course is aimed at singers, actors, logopeds/vocal pathologists, and others that wish to develop voice control. The course will consist of theoretical explanation, video research, audio/video examples, work group practice in which participants will be coached in mastering the voice qualities and basic figures. At the end of each day masterclasses will be held in which participants are invited to bring their own music or text to work with.

For those of you who are not familiar with EVTS, here is a brief description:
Estill Voice Training is a system for training the voice. The system is a result of ongoing research on the physiology voice production. EVTS is aimed at teaching singers and actors to control different structures of the vocal tract independently. The system aims at improving voice control and expanding vocal options for the perfomer, while avoiding aesthetic bias.
Nowadays, EVTS is being taught at major music schools, in styles ranging from opera to musical theatre, to rock. Estill Voice Training teaches singers to develop flexibility, enabling them to switch easily between singing classical repertoir, contemporary light music and many other styles.
In theatre schools, the system is applied to speach on stage, and it has also found it's way into therapeutic context for treating vocal pathologies.
